Our group visited the open house of Whistler Glen Alpacas in Hudson yesterday as celebration of National Alpaca Days.
We could not have timed it any better to be present to witness the live birth of a baby alpaca girl (first photo, taken by Heather). From the moment the mamma alpaca's water broke to the delivery, to about 2 hours after birth, the baby girl alpaca was up and trying to walk around, just like in the movie Bambi. Bystanders cheered the baby alpaca girl on as she gained more and more strength to do so. We were very honored to be there. Kathy, the owner, is so knowledgable and we learned so much. We had such a nice time chatting with her and her husband.
Many more photos are on our meetup.com page for any of our group members who missed this event. We will be looking forward to another event there some time next year.
Cissie could not resist the hat rack and put on this lovely hat to remind everyone about Knit, Hook, and Hat coming up on Monday, October 3rd.
