Akron WWKIP Day 2011

Die-hard knitters and crocheters braved the 65-degree weather for the first Akron World Wide Knit in Public Day this past Sunday!

There was yarn bombing of all sorts from trees to posts to butterfly bombing to even a pom pom tree. Many donations of newborn and preemie items were also collected for donation to local hospitals as well. Everyone brought their WIPs (works in progress) from knitting, crocheting, spinning and even bobbin lace.

It was great to see such a great turnout --- 67 people!

The organizers, Dara and Cheryl, did such a great job pulling it all together.

Keep up-to-date on future news with this event, especially in 2012, via Ravelry.com and/or Facebook (Akron World Wide Knit in Public Day)! I have a feeling it is going to be even BIGGER next year.

6/22 Update: WWKIP Day Akron has been turned into a group on Facebook. Be sure to search out World Wide Knit in Public Day - Akron Ohio and join!
